Day Care Business
I have to go to
work; I'm already late as it is! Where is the baby sitter? What am I going
to do? Does this sounds familiar?
Many of you have
been in the same situation, or you have acquaintances who have to confront
this problem on an almost daily basis.
At least once, the
thought of a day care business must have crossed your mind. And why
shouldn't you try it?
If you
are a mom and you have small children to look after, starting a day care
business can be an option for you to work on and still spend time with your
small children.
Financing Your
Day Care Business
Starting your day
care business, you may need some type of financing, whether you self
finance it, obtain a grant or a loan.
You can seek
partners who can help you finance your project. Churches, labor unions for
example can sponsor your day care business, or even offer financial
backing.
A Location For
Your Day Care Business
Once you have
acquired enough
financial resources, you can start looking for a good location for your
day care center. This type of business should be placed near a large
shopping center, or on the way to a major business or industrial area.
Some people start
their day care business at their homes.
Normal Day Care
Hours And Operations
The next thing you
should consider is to decide on your regular day care hours; usually these
are from 6 AM to 6 PM. There is a new trend of 24 hour day care centers.
Then, you should
think about the meals you will offer the children.
The basic rule is to
serve one hot meal for the kids at noon, you can make
them breakfast, and offer mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks. Fresh
fruit, cookies, juice and the usual snacks are served in most of the day
care centers.
This means that you
have to have kitchen facilities, dishes, tables, and of course a cook who
prepares the meals, serve the children and washes the dishes.
Who Will You
Hire?
At the end we can't
forget about the personnel you hire in your day care business; these
people must take care, play with the children, and teach them your lesson
plan.
You have to know
that an educator can deal with about 10 children at most per educator. It is best to hire
qualified and reliable persons to do this job, so the parents can trust
your day care business, and send their children there knowing that they
are safe, well taken care of, and they are enjoying themselves in the
company of other children.
Licenses and
Certificates
Just like with any
business you may plan to start, you will need to contact the local
government office to find out what type of business licenses and/or
certifications you may need to obtain before you start your day care
business.
It is a good idea to
write a business plan to help you with the direction you plan on taking
your day care business in.
Creating A
Detailed Business Plan

direction you plan on taking it to.

planning your day care business by creating a detailed business
